Africa-Press – Botswana. Mogoditshane police have increased their presence along liquor outlets and shops situated along major roads.

Station commander, Superintendent Boemo Bok explained that the decision was taken after the realisation that most liquor outlets and shops were situated along busy roads, which created worrying scenes especially during the night.

He said the police presence would help to reduce chances of road traffic accidents, as revellers crossed the road from one outlet to another.

Supritendent Bok said proximity of shops and bars to the road posed a threat to lives hence he called on road users to be vigilant as they celebrated the festive season.

He said they had not recorded major incidents during the Christmas period and hoped that the same would continue into the new year celebrations.

He said only two roads accidents were recorded before Christmas and no fatalities were recorded.

Mogoditshane police station covers Mogoditshane, Tsolamosese Kopong , Metsimotlhabe, Mmopane and Gabane among others.
