Africa-Press – Botswana. Former Zebras, Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Extension Gunners, Gaborone United, Township Rollers and Notwane midfielder Dirang Moloi ended his footballing career with a win for Magosi.
Magosi dedicated their last fixture of the 2024 /25 season against Morupule Wanderers to honour Dirang alias the Spanish Guitar by offering free admission to the Royal Aria Stadium for football lovers who nearly packed the venue to the brim on Saturday. Under the mentorship of his brother Pontsho Moloi, Dirang was allowed 68 minutes to bid football fanatics goodbye.
Lebopo Moremi fitted well in his position as he managed to sustain the momentum of the game as Magosi kept posing a routine of dangers to Wanderers. Magosi, who showcased a very balanced play managed to beat the tactics of coach Agang Mogotsi in the 21st minute with a strike from defender Tendai Kesekile to seal the deal of winning it for Dirang. Dirang displayed a veteran’s approach to the game serving as an anchor to Magosi’s defence and the striking force, causing havoc to the opponents’ defence.
Coach Moloi said it was a wow moment for the Kgatleng giants to have closed the season with a win despite not being the champions, but the team gave it their all to finish top 8. The former Zebras ace admitted that his lads may not have been at the best of some fans’ expectations but he assured fans a great next season. Magosi wrapped up the season at position five having bagged 56 points. Moloi said he was gratified by the spectators’ turn up especially on the day when his brother was kicking it for the last time.
