Africa-Press – Botswana. Moshopa Council Chairman, Peter Sethibe, has called for the establishment of Community Trusts in Mogonye village to channel local wealth directly into community development.
Speaking at a Kgotla meeting on 27 October, Sethibe encouraged residents to take active ownership of Mogonye’s natural resources, particularly its gorges and rich biodiversity. He highlighted the potential of these assets to generate sustainable income for the community while promoting environmental conservation.
Sethibe explained that community-owned trusts could serve as a platform for developing eco-tourism ventures such as lodges, campsites, and guided tours. These initiatives would not only create employment opportunities for local residents but also attract visitors, contributing to the village’s economic growth.
He emphasized that the formation of Community Trusts would empower villagers to manage their resources responsibly, ensuring that profits are reinvested into local infrastructure, education, and health services. Sethibe’s message underlined the importance of combining economic development with environmental stewardship to achieve long-term benefits for Mogonye.Buy vitamins and supplements
