Africa-Press – Botswana. Good Hope District Council chairperson, Mr Fanki Motsaathebe has applauded Rolong Land Board for exceeding its target of plot allocations.

Addressing the ongoing first full council session, Mr Motsaathebe said the land board had planned to allocate 1784 plots but exceeded the target by 10 allocations.

He noted that it was among the three land boards that had reached their plot allocation target set by government.

He said for the current financial year, they had set an even more ambitious target of 2 500 plot allocations. Mr Motsaathebe said villages set to benefit from the anticipated allocations included Metlojane, Cwagare, Molete, Rakhuna, Hebron, Malokaganyane and Makokwe.

“The layouts are now at the surveying stage and are largely hived-off to the private sector for efficiency,” said the chairperson.

He also noted that the land board had managed to complete eight base maps for Mogobewakgomo, Borobadilepe, Sheep Farm, Sekokwane, Tlhareseleele, Logagane, Marojane and Mokatako amounting to about 270 hectares.

In other issues, he said during the quarter under review there was an increase in offences against property with 58 cases recorded as compared to 49 registered last year.

He said the increase was noticed in house breaking, followed by stock theft, store breaking and robbery.

He, however, said burglary and motor vehicle theft were substantially reduced as no cases were registered.

Mr Motsaathebe noted that 125 stock theft cases were recorded by the Ramatlabama Police Station.
