Africa-Press – Botswana. Bishop Meshack Motsomane is the new Organisation of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Botswana Chapter Executive Committee president.
Accepting the responsibility during his inauguration and consecration of the OAIC Botswana committee in Mahalapye recently, Bishop Motsomane said his road map would be derived from the OAIC Strategic Plan document and it hinged around rationalising and restructuring OAIC structures with clear channels of communication.
He promised creation of a structure to superintend OAIC, the executive committee and ensure good corporate governance, accountability, transparency and checks and balance.
Furthermore, he said he would evaluate all the agreements entered into by, and between, OAIC and other organisations to determine the benefits.
He promised to make OAIC an organisation of choice and also curb wasteful expenditure.
Bishop Motsomane said he would ensure annual costing and budgeting of all the organisation’s activities and that OAIC was re-branded.
He said there was need to explore other ways of raising funds for the organisation besides annual membership subscriptions.
He said financial reports including; assets, liabilities and depreciation of assets would be on the AGMs agenda, adding ‘we will endeavour to have shall, among others, also”.
Giving a brief background of OAIC, Bishop Motsomane said the organisation was founded in November 1978, and its original objective was to provide better theological and biblical education for its members, including promotion of Sunday schools.
He said its connections were not limited to the African continent, but it also had partnerships with several European and North American agencies.
The organisation is also an active participant of the World Council of Churches, the Global Christian Forum and the World Conference of Religions for Peace.
Other members of the executive committee are: Bishop Kesegofetse Mandelo as vice president of OAIC Botswana CEC, Chief Priest Emmanuel Chida as chairperson, Tshepang Weston as vice chairperson and Arch Bishop Balume Bulayani as an additional member.
