Africa-Press – Botswana. The Mozambique football team was excluded this Saturday from the seventh edition of CHAN’2023, after losing to a similar team from Madagascar, by 1-3, in a quarter-final game.
The Malagasy goals were scored by Aolomampionona, in the 18th minute, Jean Yves (67′) and Márcio (87′), while Isac Carvalho scored for the Mozambicans (90+4′), in a competition taking place in Algeria.
In the other semi-final match played at Miloud Hadefi’s stadium, Niger eliminated Ghana, with a 2-0 victory. The goals were scored by Imarana Baro, in the 11th minute, and Boubacar (49′).
In addition to Madagascar, hosts Algeria, who beat Côte d’Ivoire, and Senegal, who overcame Mauritania, both 1-0, through penalties, are also qualified for the semi-finals.
Angola, remember, competed in group D, alongside Mali and Mauritania, in this continental event reserved for players playing in their respective countries.
Morocco (defending champion) withdrew from the competition, under the tutelage of the African Football Confederation (CAF).
