Africa-Press – Botswana. Member of Parliament for Palapye and Minister of Water and Human Settlement, Onneetse Ramogapi, has commended the government for its performance over the past 12 months. In his response to the State of the Nation Address, Ramogapi highlighted key achievements and future priorities for his constituency.

Ramogapi praised the UDC-led government for implementing reductions in water and electricity tariffs, a move he said has positively impacted households and businesses across the country. He also noted the government’s efforts to promote equality in education by increasing the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) allowance from P300 to P1 900.

The MP further acknowledged steps taken to enhance national communication, including the airing of national bulletins in minority languages such as Siyeyi, Shekgalagari, Senaro, and Ikalanga, which he said strengthens inclusivity and access to information.

Turning to local development, Ramogapi outlined forthcoming projects in Palapye. He highlighted a P1.4 billion chemical plant, which he expects will create significant employment opportunities. He also called attention to the urgent need for a hospital in the area, describing the facility as long overdue.

In addition, Ramogapi urged the government to invest in the construction of internal roads in Palapye to improve mobility and support local economic growth, while acknowledging ongoing fiscal constraints.

The MP’s address underscores the government’s progress in infrastructure, social services, and inclusivity while drawing attention to critical projects needed to enhance the quality of life and economic opportunities for residents of Palapye.
