Africa-Press – Botswana. Organisers of the MRS Botswana beauty pageant will on Saturday reveal the top ten finalists who will battle for the 7th edition of the title to be held next month (July).
A total of 20 married women will compete for the post in a fashion show themed ‘Fashionably winter denim, sophisticated converted old jeans,’ with each competitor assigned a different project.
According to Kgalalelo Lesetedi, the Founder and Director of Mrs. Botswana Brand, the contestants will also be expected to make a presentation about some of the duties they were allocated. She said other aspects to present on included sensitisation on Gender Based Violence (GBV), child welfare and protection as well as advocating for happy families.
She said the marks garnered during presentations will be used as part of the selection process. Lesetedi said beyond the competition, the women will be encouraged to purse entrepreneurial opportunities in order to achieve self-sufficiency and community building.
“This pageant intends to encourage married women to share inspiration and motivation while building themselves and their families for the betterment of communities. It will also instill life skills such as public speaking, beauty and other general management skills,” she said.
Lesetedi said although the pageant has grown, there is still need for more sponsors in order to continue to fulfill its mandate and the expectations of fans and the public.
