Africa-Press – Botswana. My Star Botswana Music Talent Show fans can anticipate a spectacular to a grand finale scheduled for May 16 at Tlotlo Conference Centre in Gaborone.

Director Keabetswe Sesinyi aka Master Dee said in an interview that the Top five build-up show was set for May 3 at Lady Khama Hall in Serowe,

“The Top 5 finalists will headline the Serowe show as part of the preparations for the grand finale,” said Master Dee, adding that each Top five contestant would debut an original single at the finale, a first in My Star history.

Master Dee hoped that radio stations would be eager to play the singles soon after being premiered.

“This year’s show is the best show ever. The plan is that each contestant will have their single played in the radio stations as they have been invited to the finale,” said Master Dee.

Now in its 17th season, he said My Star Botswana continued to be a powerhouse in nurturing young talent. Master Dee proudly shared that over 33 alumni had accessed university education through the programme, with former contestants now graduates of institutions like the University of Botswana, Awake College, and SAE Institute in South Africa.

“This show has always been about uplifting the youth,” he said and appreciated government’s support for helping participants pursue further education.“It has helped launch the careers of some of Botswana’s biggest music names including ATI, Amantle Brown among others,” he said.

Master Dee said the Minister of Sports and Arts was expected to grace the grand finale, a sign that government acknowledged the show’s contribution to the creative industry.

The judging panel this year will feature past My Star finalists alongside established music industry figures. Former contestants among them Kitso and Amantle Brown have previously served as judges, alongside guest appearances from industry veterans such as Han C.

“I am bringing together people from across the music fraternity. We must work together to help contestants move forward in their music journey,” Master Dee said.
