Africa-Press – Botswana. Commander of Botswana Defence Force (BDF), Lieutenant General Placid Segokgo has sworn-in officers who recently promoted.
The officers were also adorned with the insignia of their new ranks at Sir Seretse Khama Barracks on Wednesday in a ceremony that was also attended by the officers’ family members.
Recently President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, who is Commander-in-Chief of Armed Forces, promoted senior officers of the BDF.
Six officers who have been holding the rank of Colonel; Tlhomamo Makolo, Tshepho Mpetsane, Segolame Sebenyane, Harvey Molope, Sebue Nlebgwa and David Mapitse, have been elevated to Brigadier.
The President also promoted 19 officers from the rank of Lieutenant Colonel to Colonel, and 24 officers from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel.
The Deputy Commander of the BDF, Major General Mpho Mophuting congratulated all the officers who have been promoted to take new responsibilities, and stated that this was in recognition of their good service.
He reminded them that a lot was expected from them as they assumed new responsibilities.
Meanwhile, the Commander of the BDF has promoted 2 154 junior officers, Warrant Officers and Non-Commissioned Officers.
