Africa-Press – Botswana. Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is aware of outstanding payment of overtime allowances for night watchmen in the Mahalapye District.

Answering a question in Parliament on Monday, Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Sethabelo Modukanele said the delay in settling the outstanding payment of overtime allowances of night watchmen was due to the late processing and submission for payment claims, which has since been resolved.

Currently, Mr Modukanele said there were no outstanding overtime payments and that ‘all payments due for the months of April 2023 to June 2023 were paid on July 6, 2023.”

Member of Parliament for Sefhare–Ramokgonami constituency, Dr Kesitegile Gobotswang had asked the minister to update Parliament on the long outstanding payment of overtime for night watchmen in Mahalapye District.

He asked the minister to state if he was aware of the issue of outstanding payment of overtime allowances for night watchmen in Mahalapye District and why there has been long delays in settling the issue and when the affected individuals would be paid, stating specific timelines.
