Africa-Press – Botswana. Mr Thomas Nkhoma was Saturday elected MISA Botswana chairperson.
Also elected to the board was Ms Sharon Mathala, Mr Aubrey Maswabi, Mr Nicholas Mokwena, Mr Ketumile Ramatiti and Mr Bakang Tiro as additional members.
Ms Tsaone Basimanebotlhe was elected the treasurer while Mr Victor Baatweng scooped the position of secretary general.
Ms Tshireletso Stoffel is the new vice chairperson.
Speaking after election, Mr Nkhoma said his task was to bring his team together and work to take MISA Botswana to the next level.
Mr Tefo Pheage, who also contested for the position of chairperson conceded defeat and urged the incoming governing body to keep contact with everyone who campaigned to see how best they could work together to attain goals of MISA.
Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO) board chairperson, Mr Olebile Machete, who was engaged by MISA Botswana to oversee the election said all compliance standards were adhered to as per the governing instruments of MISA Botswana.
“We took the contenders and voters through the processes of ballot verification to build the integrity of the process,” he said.
