Africa-Press – Botswana. The 29th edition of the Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair 2025, which starts in Francistown today until Sunday, has attracted over 194 exhibitors from across all sectors of the economy.
The fair will showcase a diverse range of exhibitors, spanning agriculture, real estate, finance, and more, offering a comprehensive view of the economy.
Business Botswana acting head of marketing and public relations, Ms Patience Lebotse said in an interview on Monday that this year’s show had evolved into the largest and most prominent trade fair in the north of Botswana, a testament to its growth and significance.
The show will be officially opened by the Vice President and Minister of Finance, Mr Ndaba Gaolathe, who will also participate in the fireside chat session, underscoring the event’s importance and prestige.
“The fireside chat session will allow the business community to dialogue with the Vice President about some challenges they face,” said Ms Lebotse.
Ms Lebotse also noted that the fair would provide both the local and business communities with an opportunity to network, collaborate, and forge partnerships to ensure that the northern region had a fair share as an engine of economic growth.
She was elated that private sector participation had surged considerably and was hopeful that the fair would have a sustainable and long-term effect on the economy of the Francistown community and its surroundings.
Furthermore, Ms Lebotse was content that the Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair was one of the necessary building blocks to ensure that Francistown’s Transport and Logistics Special Economic Zone hub gained traction.
“As Business Botswana, we have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to contribute and advise how Francistown can become a truly Transport and Logistics hub,” she said.
The 2025 edition of Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair will be held under the theme: Driving Economic Diversification, Innovation for Sustainable Growth.
Meanwhile, Ms Lebotse said Business Botswana had gone a notch higher to include fan parks and refreshments, thanks to collaborations with partners.
Business Botswana has also introduced nominal charges for young people interested in attending this year’s trade fair to encourage youth participation.
Although the previous shows have not had regional and international companies taking part, it is the wish of Business Botswana to have them beginning next year.
