Africa-Press – Botswana. To empower youth with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities necessary to excel in the business world, Junior Chamber International Lobatse (JCI) hosted the 2nd Edition of the Youth Rise Up Business Forum at Tswelelopele Brigade in Ramotswa on Tuesday.

Addressing the attendees under the theme Breaking Boundaries: Nurturing an Entrepreneurial Mindset for Youth Empowerment, JCI President Ms Olorato Morweng highlighted the forum’s main goal of cultivating entrepreneurial thinking, facilitating the transformation of ideas into reality, and providing a platform for the emergence of future business leaders.

In addition, another speaker, Dr Dimakatso Polokelo from Agility Consulting, commended JCI for organizing forums aimed at empowering and transforming entrepreneurial mindsets to foster growth and change. She emphasised that nurturing an entrepreneurial mindset among young individuals goes beyond dreams, playing a crucial role in shaping not only personal success but also laying the foundation for innovation, economic development, and societal progress.

Dr Polokelo encouraged the youth to immerse themselves in diverse perspectives to internalize the importance of fostering an entrepreneurial spirit. She stressed the need to equip themselves with essential tools and strategies to navigate challenges and seize opportunities to effectively break boundaries in the entrepreneurial landscape.

Furthermore, she emphasised the significance of implementing strategies to develop an educated, innovative, creative, and resilient youth for the future – emphasising that education should extend beyond academics.

The speakers highlighted the value of experiential learning opportunities in providing real-world insights and emphasised the need for stakeholders, not just the government, to empower and create opportunities for the youth to contribute meaningfully to society.

During panel discussions, Councillor Thabo Kgaswane encouraged the youth to adopt a resourceful and risk-taking mindset and leverage government initiatives to support their business endeavors. Panelists also emphasised the importance of collaborative efforts between the government and youth in fostering youth entrepreneurship, stressing the need for the government to create enabling environments and sustainable funding programs for youth initiatives.
