Africa-Press – Botswana. Botswana Defence Force (BDF) and Botswana Police Service (BPS) have bought uniform and accoutrements from companies in Botswana through open tenders.
This was confirmed by Minister of Defense and Security, Mr Kagiso Mmusi in his response to a parliamentary question recently. Mr Mmusi said that BPS and BDF awarded tenders to 55 and 11 companies respectively. He added that the companies from which the BDF and BPS had procured their uniform mainly comprised those whose directors were from Botswana, with a few from South Africa, Canada and India. Member of Parliament for Maun West, Mr Dumelang Saleshando, had wanted to know if the BDF and BPS had ever procured their uniform from companies in Botswana. Mr Saleshando asked the minister to state the names of such companies as well as their directors.
