Africa-Press – Botswana. President Advocate Duma Boko officially opened the Pan Commonwealth Forum 11 in Gaborone, where he welcomed delegates from across the globe. In his address, he thanked leaders, ministers, educators, and international guests for making the journey to Botswana.
He reminded participants of Botswana’s strong democratic tradition. He pointed to the peaceful transfer of power after the 2024 elections as proof that the country remains a model of peace, stability, and democracy. This, he said, sets an example for the world.
President Boko stressed the importance of building a knowledge economy. He urged participants to embrace creativity, innovation, and education as tools to solve today’s pressing challenges. He highlighted that Botswana must continue to diversify its economy beyond diamonds and emphasized that the country’s greatest strength lies in its people.
He also called for more support of the creative industry. He said that while machines may replace many jobs in the future, human creativity and emotion cannot be replicated by technology. By nurturing these skills, countries can protect and grow industries that reflect their culture and values.
After his remarks, President Boko officially declared the forum open. He expressed hope that the gathering will produce fresh ideas and solutions that will shape a better future for Botswana, the Commonwealth, and the world.
