Africa-Press – Botswana. Losing a loved one is the most painful experience in life, as such it can be difficult for the bereaved to focus on much beyond the loss.

“I know how painful it is, having just experienced the same thing recently,” said President, Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi recently when visiting the Maribe family in Mochudi to offer his condolences following the death of Ms Mmadipitse Maribe.

President Masisi said mothers were central to children’s upbringing, hence they left a vacuum when they departed.

He encouraged the family to find comfort in the love of God and also take solace in that their mother had lived long enough to raise her grandchildren while some had not been fortunate having lost their mothers while they were infants.

The President also appealed to the children, among them, career diplomat, Mr Clifford Maribe to remain united.

One of the children, Ms Thandiwe Seretse described her mother’s death as peaceful, given that she had not shown any signs of serious ill health and that she had earlier spent the day in church and visited a bereaved family in her neighbourhood.

Ms Seretse said she was forced to relocate from Maun to Mochudi last year to take care of her ailing mother, but she had shown signs of recovery.

“Our mother has experienced few heart attacks this year and on the fateful Sunday, I thought she would recover as always,” Ms Seretse said.

Bakgatla regent, Kgosi Bana Sekai, Kgatleng District Council chairperson, Mr Daniel Molokwe and Ministry of Foreign Affairs officials accompanied President Masisi.
