Africa-Press – Botswana. Batswana should join forces with law enforcement agencies to curb rising incidences of crime, some of which result in the loss of life.

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi said this in Kanye when condoling with the family of 86-year-old Mr Kabo Masire who died Sunday night at the hands of criminals who broke into his house in Kanye.

Dr Masisi appealed to anyone with information that could help the police apprehend the suspect(s) to come forth.

He said perpetrators of such heinous crimes should not be spared the wrath of the law.

The President assured the family that the police would do its best to crack the case, which he described as a sad occurrence that Batswana were not used to.

Family representative, retired Lieutenant General Tebogo Masire said it was sad that criminals had rendered life valueless as they continued to claim lives with no care.

He was however optimistic that the police would arrest the perpetrators and that the law would take its course.

Kanye South Member of Parliament, Dr Lemogang Kwape shared sentiments that violent and intrusive crimes continued to rise and often claimed lives, saying Mr Masire’s murder was not the first incident of its kind to occur in Kanye in the recent past.

Dr Kwape thanked President Masisi for always taking out time to visit bereaved families and offer them support.

Funeral arrangements are yet to be concluded as police investigations into the matter are still in their infancy.
