Africa-Press – Botswana. President Dr Mokgweesti Masisi on Thursday conveyed his condolences to the family of Kgosi Molatedi Lebang who died April 12 aged 84.
Kgosi Lebang, who was a headman of arbitration at Boikago ward in Palapye was laid to rest on April 20.
Commiserating with the family, President Masisi said Kgosi Lebang lived a fulfilling life of compassion, righteousness and divinity.
The President said kgosi Lebang was a true and skillful leader thus he found it necessary to come to Lebang family to comfort them.
He encouraged the Lebang family to put their trust in God during this difficult time of the loss of their loved one.
President Masisi also encouraged the family to remain steadfast in their faith during trying times, adding the family should find solace in the fact that the late’s leadership prowess united people of different walks of life. He said Kgosi Lebang who is father to Kgosi Martha Lebang of Palapye did his job well and knew how to lead, adding that it was no surprise that his daughter was a chief.
He thanked all those who supported Kgosi Lebang in his work.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Kgosi Lebang’s son Mr Kennedy Lebang thanked the President for finding time in his busy schedule to come and comfort the family.
He said the family was consoled by his visit and words of encouragement, pointing that such was a blessing and their lives would never be the same again.
Kgosi Lebang of Palapye said his father died at Sekgoma Memorial hospital where he was admitted.
Thanking Dr Masisi for visiting them, she described the President as a caring and loving person who was always eager to check on his people’s welfare and thus urged the nation to borrow a leaf from him.
The late Kgosi Lebang’s educational journey started in Middle School (Currently known as Simon Ratshosa Primary School) where upon completion he proceeded to Falcon College in Rhodesia (present day Zimbabwe) for his secondary school education.
He first worked as a court clerk at Ramokgonami and Serowe. He proceeded to work at BCL Mine under the Management Development Programme and chose a career on procurement.
He proceeded to work at Morupule Colliery Mine as a senior buyer until 1996.
In 1998 he joined Barnets furnitures Serowe branch as a manager, then Supreme furnitures in the same capacity but based in Palapye.
His career culminated as a stakeholder relations coordinator in Mak Construction based in Palapye.
Kgosi Lebang went on to pursue his passion of serving the community by becoming headman of arbitration on November 1, 2011.
