Africa-Press – Botswana. Often times, President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, at events promises public members some gifts and would at a later stage fulfill such.

On May 23, Batswana witnessed fulfilment of yet another promise that President Masisi had made to Paje elderly women who participated in this year’s International Women’s Day commemoration beauty pageant.

He gifted the winner, first and second princesses a cow each, all from the First Lady Neo’s kraal.

Ms Galemodimo Kebalatlhe scooped the queen’s prize, the first princess position was snatched by Ms Goitsemang Jeji while the second princess prize went to Ms Tetlelelo Ntwakgolo.

The queen received a Simmental cow and its calf, number two got a cross of Simmental and its calf while number three got a commercial breed also with a calf.

The three winners also got a feeding trough each.

President Masisi said after he promised the gifts during the International Women’s Day commemoration in Paje back then, artificially inseminated cows were choosen to ensure that the three cows came with a calf each. The top three were not the only ones who benefited from the goodness of the First Lady’s heart.

All contestants received consolation prizes of P500 each from Ms Masisi and P500 each from a good Samaritan from Paje.

President Masisi said he and wife had decided to adopt Paje and would continue with the same gesture for years to come, as a way of empowering women.

He said next winners of the same pageant would choose their preferred breed.

President Masisi highlighted that the gesture resonated well with the National Vision, adding that as the driver of Vision 2036, he was obliged to lead by example and adopt the spirit of giving.

He said as a President, he had the duty to assist every Motswana upgrade their economic status.
