Africa-Press – Botswana. President Advocate Duma Boko convened the inaugural cabinet meeting yesterday morning, marking the beginning of a new administrative journey for his team.

In his address, President Boko emphasised the importance of accountability and the commitment expected from each cabinet member, starting from the moment they took their oaths of office. He reminded the cabinet of the critical objectives they needed to achieve within their first 100 days, urging them to align their efforts with the national aspirations outlined by the public.

President Boko highlighted the need for collaboration and support from stakeholders, reinforcing the concept of unity within the cabinet.

The President also took the opportunity to congratulate Botswana’s national football team, the Zebras, for their historic achievement in qualifying for the 2025 African Cup of Nations.

The meeting also saw the swearing-in of Dr Oupa Tsheko as the new Chief of Staff.

Dr Tsheko has served for 25 years as both researcher and consultant on regional economic integration.

He has made contributions to the macroeconomic policy of the SADC region and as a macroeconomist and trade policy analyst, he developed a regional CGE model for SADC to conduct quantitative policy analysis on different economic sectors in the region.

Dr Tsheko obtained his doctoral degree in International Trade and Policy Analysis from the University of Sheffield, UK in 2002, master’s degree in International Trade and Finance from the University of Manitoba, Canada in 1994. He also has a bachelor of arts degree in Economics obtained from the University of Botswana in 1991.
