Africa-Press – Botswana. Ministry of Health plans to construct a district hospital in Mochudi during the Transitional Development Plan II (TNDP-2023-2025) period with a proposed 153 bed capacity.

Responding to a question in Parliament, Assistant Minister of Health, Mr Lawrence Ookeditse said the hospital was to be delivered through the Development Manager (DM) model.

“The DM responsible for this project has since completed and submitted the inception stage report.” Mr Ookeditse said the ministry had handed over the site to the DM to enable for the design and other works of the hospital project to proceed.

“It is worth noting that all the DM projects are currently undergoing review. The review started mid January and expected to take 40 calender days.”

He siad the ministry would be informed and guided by the outcome of of the review on the way forward.

Kgatleng Central MP, Mr Mpho Morolong had asked the minister to provide an update on the relocation of Deborah Retief Hospital including timelines and any plans for the inclusion of a school of nursing in the new facility.
