Africa-Press – Botswana. Business owners have been advised to produce quality products to increase chances of market accessibility and competitiveness.

In a landscape characterised by increasing competition and rising consumer expectations, it is necessary for businesses to prioritise quality in order to thrive.

Botswana Bureau of Standards (BOBS) Marketing and Communication Manager, Mr Peter Mpete said during the Botswana Investment Trade Centre (BITC) national roadshow held in Selebi Phikwe on Tuesday, themed: Driving Economic Growh Through Investment, Trade, and Enterprise Development.

“Quality assurance not only enhances a brand’s reputation but also fosters customer loyalty,” he explained. He noted that customers were often willing to pay a premium for products they trust, which in turn allowed local businesses to flourish.

Mr Mpete also urged businesses to adopt innovative practices to meet the evolving market demands, asserting that in today’s business environment, ensuring quality was not an option but a crucial commitment that led to positive rewards and sustainability.

The BITC national roadshow programme aims to mobilise local entrepreneurs and businesses while showcasing the support that BITC and other stakeholders provide to enhance product quality and market outreach.

BITC Director of Business Service-North, Mr Gaorekwe Gaorekwe, encouraged local entrepreneurs to leverage available services for continuous business growth. He underscored that engaging with offerings from BITC, SPEDU, LEA, CEDA, and other relevant entities could significantly enhance business growth and open up new market opportunities.

Mr Gaorekwe highlighted the importance of collective efforts to promote and prioritise local products, stating that doing so was vital for sustaining jobs within the community.

“Supporting local businesses not only strengthens the economy but also nurtures job creation for sustainability. When local products are purchased, it directly contributes to the jobs created by local business entities,” he highlighted.

Meanwhile, Mr Maiba Samunzala, acting Director of Strategic Projects for SPEDU, discussed SPEDU’s mandate of driving economic diversification in the region. He mentioned that SPEDU focuses on sustainable projects in areas such as agriculture, manufacturing, and tourism, aiming to create sustainable employment opportunities and foster economic diversification within the region.

Among the entrepreneurs attending the BITC national roadshow was Ms Dorcus Selebogo, who owns Starcas Glow, a candle manufacturing company. She praised the roadshow, stating that it provided her with an opportunity to connect and interact with other entrepreneurs and learn about the culture of responsibility and sustainability within the business community.
