Africa-Press – Botswana. To motivate and inspire people at the start of the new year, Quantum Leap Academy hosted a one-day conference emphasising the importance of following through with resolutions and maintaining focus.

The conference showcased a diverse panel of speakers who shared their personal experiences and insights on achieving goals and sustaining motivation in the face of challenges.

Speakers stressed the importance of having a clear plan and taking small, consistent steps towards goals. The conference, led by Life Coach, Mr Jeremiah Dikgang of Quantum Leap Academy, covered topics such as designing your life, developing a focused mindset, and honing in gifts and talent.

Speaking at the event, Mr Dikgang encouraged participants that they should start the year on the right foot on goal setting and personal development.

It is hoped that this conference will help participants to stay motivated and inspired throughout the year. He explained that as the New Year starts, Quantum Leap Academy is encouraging individuals to start off on the right foot with a one-day conference on goal-setting and personal development.

“It is hoped that the conference will help participants to stay motivated and inspired throughout the year,” he added.

Lecturing on the theme of the conference Designing Your Year Summit, Mr Dikgang explained that many people start the year with great intentions and big goals, but struggle to follow through on their resolutions.

“As the New Year begins, many people have made resolutions for self-improvement. However, research shows that less than 10 per cent of the people actually follow through on their resolutions,” he said.

Mr Dikgang said this has led to frustration and disappointment among many, and even, according to some experts, a feeling of separation from God.

“When we connect our goals to our core values and beliefs, we are more likely motivated and committed to achieving them,” he noted.

Mr Dikgang suggested asking questions such as, “Why do I want to make this change?” or “How will this change improve my life?” to help connect our resolutions to the deeper motivations.

He also suggested taking small, consistent steps towards goals, rather than trying to achieve them all at once.

He said one of the biggest challenges is the ability to stay focused and motivated in the face of distractions and setbacks. “Some people even lose sight of their resolutions and forget why they made them in the first place,” added Mr Dikgang.

He said the theme calls for individuals to focus on helping attendees to develop a plan for the year ahead.

This could include setting goals and developing strategies for achieving them, identifying potential challenges and opportunities, and creating a roadmap for success.

“The summit will also provide resources and support for attendees to stay on track and make the most of their year,” he said.”

He explained that the way people think about life and their goals has a significant impact on their success.

“In Botswana, there is a need for a change in mindset, a shift from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset.

A fixed mindset is one in which we believe our abilities are set in stone and cannot be changed.

In contrast, Mr Dikgang said a growth mindset is one in which people believe their abilities can be developed through effort, learning, and persistence.

“Changing our mindset is not easy, but it is essential for growth and progress,” he added.

Another life coach and guest every Wednesday at Mmabatho Radio Station, South Africa, Mr Mompoloki Tsie, told the participants that the key to success is the ability to consistently show up and pursue their dreams and goals.

Mr Tsie, who was a keynote speaker at the event shared his personal experiences of overcoming challenges and achieving success by committing to showing up every day.

“Success does not happen overnight. It takes time, patience, and perseverance,” said Mr Tsie. He encouraged the attendees to take steps each day towards their goals, no matter how big or small. Mr Tsie also stressed the importance of self-care and taking time to rest and recharge, as this is essential for long-term success.

“You cannot pour from an empty cup,” said Mr Tsie.

“You must define your goals, prioritise and execute whilst at the same time cutting out things that are not of importance in your life such as friends and entertainment,” said Mr Tsie.

He said the journey to success must be at the centre of one’s dream by using five tools which he said are to Focus, Commitment, Consistent, Disciplined and Determined (FCCDD).

One of the participants, Mr Batho Baeletsi said the summit gave the tools and inspiration to plan for the year ahead, even though the first month of the year has already passed. He explained that the event gave him clarity and motivation to set goals and create a plan to achieve them.

Another participant, Ms Balulami John from Sego Sa Letlotlo youth organisation said while it may seem late in the year to start planning, it is never too late to make positive changes in life.
