RAINY CHRISTMAS UNIQUE EXPERIENCE FOR FRANCISTOWNERS

Africa-Press – Botswana. Some people usually wake up to the sound of Christmas carols on December 25, but this year in Francistown, carols were replaced by the sound of raindrops, an occurrence that signifies blessings and the much needed season heat quencher.

While in other parts of the world the streets were snow-covered, the streets of Francistown were covered with rainwater, which however did not in any way dampen residents’ Christmas mood.

They carried on with the festivities.

Mr Paul Kakanyo told that he has not seen so much rain on Christmas Day in a long time.

The 70-year-old was thrilled by the sound of the raindrops and could not help but feel a sense of nostalgia for his childhood days when rainy days were a welcome relief from the scorching heat.

The rains have brought so much joy to our town, I have not seen anything like this in the past decade, Mr Kakanyo said.

Another resident, Mr Bushi Lekuni said the rainfall turned Christmas Day into a unique experience.

“For the first time in years, the dry and dusty city has been blessed with much-needed relief from the scorching heat of summer,” said Mr Lekuni.

Children went outside to play in puddles while adults enjoyed the soothing sound of rainfall from porches.
