RAMOTSWA ROADS PROJECTS NEED OVER P11.34M

Africa-Press – Botswana. Ramotswa District’s proposed roads for 2024/2025 Constituency Community Projects (CCPs) are estimated to cost more than P11.34 million against the annual P10 million allocation.

This was revealed by the Ramotswa District Council chairperson, Mr Zaahid Jalal during a kgotla meeting in Ramotswa on Wednesday.

The meeting was aimed at engaging residents on the upcoming 2024/2025 financial year projects within the district.

Mr Jalal said the district’s proposed CCPs roads projects for 2024/2025 CCP included paving of 1.2km access road from A1 into Otse across the railway at an estimated cost of P3.24 million against a budget of more than P2.8 million and paving of 1.2km access road from A11 to Mokgosi Primary School at an estimated cost of P3.24 million against a budget of over P2.8 million.

He said other proposed roads projects included paving part of the 1km Borotsi-Mojadife Primary School road at an estimated cost of P2.7 million against a budget of more than P2.3 million and the paving of 0.8km access road from the Department of Transport to Lesetlhana Clinic at an estimated cost of P2.16 million against a budget of more than P1.9 million.

Besides the four proposed roads projects, the chairperson explained that in total, the district had 18 project needs estimated to cost more than P42.8 million.

These roads maintenance needs include Ramotswa, Mogobane, Otse, Taung, Seuwane and Kgale Farms.

In Ramotswa, the roads maintenance needs included paving of access road from A11 to Mokgosi Primary School and paving Seboko Primary School and Baithuti Junior Secondary School access roads.

He said at Mogobane the roads maintenance included the culvert upgrading at Mojadife stream crossing including 200 metres stone pitching along the road; paving the Mogobane Clinic, primary school and kgotla access roads up to junior secondary school, paving access road from the highway to Borotsi and paving part of Borotsi-Mojadife Primary School road.

Furthermore, Mr Jalal said in Taung roads maintenance needs included access from JNF shops uphill, as well as paving access road from A11 through Monganakodu to Bolux road and from Taung Junior Secondary School to GaMarete ward.

In Otse, he said the roads maintenance needs were paving of access road from A1 into Otse across the railway, paving of access road from Saverite to Shell to provide access to post office and Council Daycare Centre and completion of the paving of the Otse Wildlife loop, whilst Seuwane and Kgale Farms required bush clearing as well as paving of St Joseph’s Primary School.
