Africa-Press – Botswana. The upgrading of Letlhakeng-Kaudwane 95km road to bitumen standard and elevation of Letlhakeng clinic to a primary hospital are set be carried out through the Development Manager (DM) model.

DEVMCO has been appointed as the DM for the Letlhakeng-Kaudwane road upgrade, while the Okavango African Consortium will oversee the transformation of the Letlhakeng clinic.

Minister of Transport and Public Works, Mr Eric Molale, introduced the DMs to the residents of Salajwe and Khudumelapye recently.

The minister assured residents that both projects would commence within the current financial year.

Mr Molale emphasised the importance of sticking to the planned action for these projects to guarantee their timely completion without any additional costs.

He highlighted that the DM model aimed to eliminate wasteful spending, cost overruns, delays, and poor workmanship by strictly adhering to the agreed-upon prices.

Furthermore, Mr Molale stressed the necessity of delivering the projects according to the specified designs and standards.

He said villages located within a 10 km radius of the Letlhakeng-Kaudwane road would also be connected to enhance accessibility as per the access road policy.

The Letlhakeng-Kaudwane road serves as a crucial link to the CKGR, connecting Letlhakeng to Khutse game reserve and providing improved access to services.

Mr Molale also assured residents that the projects would not only benefit them but also ensure economic inclusion through the engagement of targeted citizens by the involved companies.

Residents of Salajwe and Khudumelapye are looking forward to the road’s upgrade to bitumen standard, expressing their excitement for the much-awaited development.

They anticipate smoother and more convenient travel once the project is completed.

Mr Tshoganetso Leuwe, Member of Parliament for Takatokwane constituency, commended government’s focus on the Letlhakeng-Kaudwane road upgrade.

He acknowledged the frustration among his constituents due to the prolonged promises regarding the road project and emphasised the positive impact it would have on the area.

Funds permitting, Mr Leuwe said, government would continue implementing planned projects.
