Africa-Press – Botswana. Peace continues to elude karate sport code in Botswana with new information emerging that one official has been suspended.
According to information gathered , International Ryushin-Kan Karate Do Botswana has suspended its chairperson, Moses Tubego. A suspension letter, signed by Ryushin-Kan chief instructor, Keorapetse Dube and Katlego Keitirele (secretary), states that Tubego has been suspended with immediate effect. The letter noted that Tubego was conspiring with Karate Nomichi, Goju-Kai, Kofukan and Shukokai Shito Ryu Union. “The purpose of the suspension is to help us establish a well informed group stance or solution to protect disrepute inside BOKA’s organisational framework,” it reads. “To provide us the ability to carefully consider how to resolve any accusations made or circulating in the proper channels and within BOKA established entities. Additionally, it is reported that all four of the members of BOKA listed, two are expelled and the other two are suspended.” Dube told that as things unfold, he has not taken sides, but all he wants is for the BOKA to be respected.
The suspension comes a few hours before the much anticipated Special General Meeting (SGM) organised by disgruntled Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) members tomorrow in Gaborone. In response, Tubego told he did not recognise the suspension because he feels Dube was pressured to write the letter. The ousted chairperson added the decision was not from Ryushin-Kan executive, but from few individuals who are being used by BOKA leadership. “There is nothing that they can do, the SGM is on tomorrow and I am attending it. We want to finish what we started. I have responded to Dube’s letter informing him that there was a need for a meeting within us. “If there is a problem with Ryushin-Kan committee, he should call a meeting rather than suspend me, that is stepping on my rights. His suspension is null and void, I do not recognise it. What I am doing is for the sake of our federation. Dube does not have the authority to overrule the general assembly,” Tubego said.
He pointed out that as disgruntled karatekas, all they want is to bring stability within BOKA and that can only happen if there is change in leadership.
