Botswana Congress Party (BCP) Selebi–Phikwe mayor Lucas Modimana has resigned from his party with immediate effect. He is expected to be welcomed into his new political home, Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) over the weekend at Tsabong. He is the councillor for Kopano ward.
According to a letter he wrote on August 25, 2022, it reads: “Please accept this letter as formal notification that I am resigning from the party (BCP) with immediate effect.”
When contacted for comment, Modimana could not shed light on the development.
BCP secretary-general Kesitegile Kekgonegile said he was not aware of Modimana’s resignation.
