The Continent hopes at the United Nations Conference on Climate Change (COP-27) to obtain ambitious results, guided by the principles and provisions of the Convention and the Paris Agreement, particularly in terms of finance, adaptation, loss and damage, he said yesterday, in Addis Ababa, the African Union Commissioner, Josefa Correia Sacko.

The African diplomat who addressed the matter at a meeting to preview the event that started yesterday and ends on the18th, in the city of Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

According to Sacko, this is a “crucial moment to shift the focus of negotiations and planning to concrete actions to accelerate adaptation to the impacts of climate change”.

“In this way”, he continued, “We hope that the promised 100 billion dollars for Africa, a promise made at the COP 26, will be unlocked, significant progress will be made in defining the new objective of collective mobilization for 2025, and establishing the financing of transition paths Fair to support developing countries”.
