School Intensifies Examination Preparations

Africa-Press – Botswana. As Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) final examinations approaches, schools have started preparing learners through extra lessons and providing motivational talks.

Kgari Sechele II Senior Secondary School is no exception. On Monday the school’s aluminae Miss Botswana 2025 2nd Princess, Ms Girly Kookilwe and the founder and director of Beacon Youth Foundation, Mr Andrew Kgosiemang of class 2016 and 2022 respectively pioneered a motivational session to learners.

Speaking at the event, Mr Kwenasebele Modukanele said he was impressed by the guidance offered by the youthful motivators as they were better placed to understand what their peers were going through. He noted that despite the school’s historical under-performance, the school has in the recent past, shown academic improvement achieving position four last year and position three in 2023 in Botswana General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE).

Mr Modukanele attributed the progress to the collective efforts of teachers and stakeholders like Beacon Youth Foundation who were determined to propel schol to excellence. He indicated that with 805 students scheduled to sit for BGCSE exams,, the school aimed to have at least 400 students progressing to tertiary level.

Mr Kgosiemang encouraged students to rise above distractions and trust in their preparations. He reminded learners that they were not defined by their past or any other circumstances but by the choices they make and the dreams they pursue.

“You are not just students but leaders in the making. Therefore, let your discipline speak louder than your doubts, and let your future reflect the sacrifices you make today,” said Mr Kgosiemang.

He also highlighted that as gender-based Violence (GBV) continues to ravage even in the school environment. Therefore, he urged the youth and different stakeholders to join hands with the school and addresses such issues. The founder and director of Beacon Youth Foundation, Mr Kgosiemang said his foundation saw the school as the ideal location to kickstart the motivational campaigns focused on student empowerment and character development.

For her part, Miss Botswana second Princess, Ms Kookilwe delivered an inspiring message focused on self-worth and academic perseverance. She urged students, especially young girls to dream boldly and never shrink their ambitions.

“Examinations are temporary but the future is permanent. Own your journey and walk it with courage and dignity,” said Ms Kookilwe.
