Africa-Press – Botswana. The late headman of arbitration and Boteti Ntlo Ya Dikgosi representative Kgosi Godfrey Serapo has been eulogised for showing that traditional and political leaders can work harmoniously.

Speaking at Kgosi Serapo’s funeral in Toromoja Saturday, different speakers among them Vice President Slumber Tsogwane, portrayed the deceased as someone who clearly understood that the Constitution of Botswana was crafted to create a cordial working relationship between political leaders and dikgosi and that the two were complementary.

Mr Tsogwane said Kgosi Serapo’s conduct, the way he worked with political leaders and everyone else was exactly what was expected of dikgosi and every civil servant.

“Discussing issues openly and not hiding that which needs to be corrected is what is required if things are to run smoothly,” stated the vice president adding that the deceased exhibited the mentioned traits. Clashes between the political and traditional leadership were a result of individual characters and not constitutional flaws, he said.
