Sesinyi becomes High Commissioner to Kenya

Africa-Press – Botswana. Author and Veteran journalist, Mr Andrew Sesinyi is Botswana’s High Commissioner to Kenya, effective May.

A new release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says Mr Sesinyi brings a wealth of experience to the Foreign Service acquired from an illustrious career in the public service, banking industry, as well as with international media organisations such as the African Union of Broadcasting.

It says in his most recent post, he served as the permanent secretary, Government Communications, at the Office of the President from 2019 to 2021, where he played an instrumental role overseeing Botswana’s communication aspect of governance.

The release says Mr Sesinyi has gained national recognition for the contributions he has made in promoting Botswana’s national development agenda story on both local and international media.

It says other portfolios that he has held within the public service include; deputy permanent secretary in the Ministry of Communications, Science and Technology, deputy permanent secretary, political affairs and senior private secretary to the former President, Dr Festus Mogae.

The release says High Commissioner-Designate Mr Sesinyi, has also played a key role in advancing Botswana’s national interests abroad during the time he served at Botswana diplomatic missions in Zambia from 1982 to 1983 and in Namibia from 1989 to 1995.

Mr Sesinyi is expected to take up his appointment in Kenya in May, taking over from High Commissioner Duke Lefhoko, who recently completed his tour of duty.
