Africa-Press – Botswana. The Moshupa District Show is expected to promote growth among participants by sharing practical tips on improving products and services of their businesses.
This annual agricultural show, which will be running for the sixth year since 2017 is anticipated to kick start from August 4 to the 10, themed: Empowering Businesses and Cultivating Growth.
In an interview on Tuesday the show spokesperson, Mr Bonang Gasebone the committee had spotted a niche market within the district for businesses.
“The idea is to ultimately create a market that interlinks businesses and allow them to run sustainably within the district before spreading out,” he said. The show will be officially opened on August 8.
Mr Gasebone said build up activities towards the show included a fun run which was held on July 19 adding that they were looking forward to hosting a beauty Pageant at Moshupa Senior secondary school on Saturday, with Former First Lady, Ms Neo Masisi as a guest.
Still as part of the activations, eight Sunday Soccer teams will participate in an elimination round at Kgomokasitwa on Saturday, where soccer lovers will be expected to part ways with P10 entrance fee. Mr Gasebone said the proceeds would be donated to Kgomokasitwa Primary school.
Monday and Tuesday are set for erection of kraals, stalls and arrival for exhibitors and auctioneers. However, Mr Gasebone said due to the bird flu outbreak, they had halted the exhibition of all types of fowl to the show. The livestock auction will be performed on August 8.
“The schools and sports day will be held on August 6 with the intention to help invigorate upon students from a very early age education in the sense of business and agriculture,” he said.
Still on the same activity, Mr Gasebone said it was decided that the sports part of it be dedicated to promoting a healthy living where government workers inclusive of school heads, participated in sports games. “The business day which mainly aligns with the theme of the event will be run on of August 8 and is expected to encompass presentations from the Local Enterprise Authority (LEA),” said Mr Gasebone.
Therefore, he urged local businesses and the rest of the public to participate in order to get information on how best to operate their businesses. Mr Gasebone encouraged them to use the platform to showcase their products. Furthermore, he highlighted that there would be some mini workshops where people would be taught on various business aspects such as business plans and others.
Mr Gasebone said on August 9, there would be dog and horse races, followed by an art festival in the evening.
The final day, August 10, will be signified by the Sunday soccer final round played at Moshupa Show ground stadium.
Concerning the stalls, ministries and parastatals’ stalls are purchased at P3 000, government departments at P1 000, SMMES at P500, Non-Governmental Organizations at P500, mobile food stores at P500 and street vendors at P100.
The kids’ corner stalls is around P300 with terms and conditions. Mr Gasebone said about four to five stalls were available for the department of kids while only 15 were set apart for the mobile food kitchens.
