Africa-Press – Botswana. Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Phandu Skelemani has resumed duty after being absent since December due to ill health.

Mr Skelemani made a surprise arrival in Parliament yesterday and told members that the doctors had certified him fit to resume duty.

MPs were also elated about the Speaker’s return and told him that they had been keeping him in their prayers. They wished him well going forward.

The Speaker fell sick in December last year while on duty in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, where he was attending the SADC Parliamentary Forum together with the Botswana Parliament delegation.

“Now I am happy to be back and let us take it from here and see how it goes,” he said.
