Africa-Press – Botswana. The Director of Rug Investments Pest Control Solution, Mr James Ditsela has said snake awareness is vital to mankind.
Speaking during the ongoing Business Botswana Northern Trade Fair, he stated that the company has been in the industry for 14 years and is based in five cities and towns across Botswana: Francistown, Gaborone, Maun, Serowe and Selebi-Phikwe.
The company deals with soft services being pest control, cleaning services and also snake management.
“We also deal with snake management, through educating and empowering people as well as conserving snakes,” he said. “We are in partnership with Snake Consultants.”
Mr Ditsela stated that with the number of encounters and snake bites increasing in the country, their mandate is to educate the public about snakes to be able to identify them, what to do during an encounter or snake bite, as well as the safety precautions.
Mr Ditsela said Rung Investments also offers snake courses to increase the number of snake handlers in Botswana.
“We are looking forward to Batswana’s support, so as to help us spread the awareness,” he added.
He said their wish was to have a snake park and also a plant where they could milk venom from the snakes.
“We want to have our venom plant at the Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST), since it is a school that focuses on science and technology”, he said.
