Africa-Press – Botswana. A new trust, Tinah Cocks Charity Trust, has donated 100 blankets which are to be distributed to the deserving persons in Maun.

The trust is an non-profit making charitable organisation that seeks to empower the needy and marginalised.

Beneficiaries include Disana Home Based Care, some schools in Maun, Village Development Committees from Old Disana and New Disana and Bagolo Khumo ya Ngwao Society among others.

Speaking during the handing over of the gifts on Tuesday, speakers praised the newly formed trust for making a positive impact on the community. They commended the trust for spreading warmth and kindness during winter and rescuing beneficiaries from harsh winter conditions.

They also appreciated that the trust had donated food hampers as well as installed water tanks in strategic areas to address shortage of water in their area.

Kgosi Catherine Matlhare of Old Disana also hailed director of Tinah Cocks Charity Trust, Mr Tinah Tameti for his good gesture and sharing what he had with other people.

She said the donation would put a smile on the faces of beneficiaries, and that they hoped the trust would do more in the future. She also urged beneficiaries to receive with open hearts and for the donor to be blessed in abundance.

Bagolo Khumo ya Ngwao Society chairperson, Ms Girliah Mokgweetsi also appreciated the donation, saying it would complement their efforts of caring and looking after the elderly people.

For his part, the, Mr Tameti said his organisation was established to undertake charitable activities in order to improve the quality of life of disadvantaged members of the community. He also said they promoted oral health care among children aged five years and below, equipping them with essential skills to take care of their teeth.

Meanwhile, the trust also donated stationary to Maitlamo Junior school.
