Africa-Press – Botswana. Strong winds and heavy rain in Tsamaya and Siviya last week left 23 homesteads, two hardwares, two shops, a night club and Tsamaya Primary School roofless.
North East District Disaster Management Committee said it issued five food baskets worth P2 500 each and five tents to five homesteads.
The storm also affected electricity supply in the village.
The district commissioner, council secretary and other officials visited the affected homesteads and a team was dispatched to the two villages to carry out damage assessments.
In Tsamaya, four households were given food baskets worth P500 each and three were assisted with tents while in Siviya one household was assisted with a food basket
The District Disaster Management Committee was still to determine the cost of the damage in the two villages.
