Africa-Press – Botswana. Tawana Sub-landboard has reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and community engagement when dealing with land matters.
Landboard chairperson, Mr Ogaufi Monamise informed residents of Shorobe during a kgotla meeting on that the layout plan for the village was approved in November last year, allowing them to proceed with land allocation.
However, he was concerned with the waiting list that stood at 3 134.
Mr Monamise said the allocation would be for residential, commercial, multi family and civic purposes, a development that would promote economic growth.
He said 241 plots were ready for allocation.
Mr Monamise assured the community that the land board was working round the clock to hasten the processes of changing land certificates to secure title deeds, after residents queried that the process took long.
“Your voices have been heard, we are working together with departments of deeds and surveys and mapping as they are the ones in charge of that project but the old certificates have not been phased out. They are still in use as we await the new ones,” he said.
Shorobe resident, Mr Zambia Keabetswe pleaded with the landboard to consult the community during the layout planning as it often complicated their living arrangements for example, closing up roads leading to their farms.
