Africa-Press – Botswana. The tender for the land use management plan of the construction of a nature reserve park at Khuis is currently running, says Assistant Minister of Health, Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe.

Mr Lelatisitswe said the tender would close by end of February and that a consultant was appointed in October 2023 for the design and construction of the facility. He, however, said the contract was terminated due to capacity constraints.

He said the tender for the construction of an ablution block at Khawa was awarded in December 2023 and the site handed over in January 2024 while the tender for the procurement of a design consultant for the gate house was currently floating and would close during the month of February.

Mr Lelatisitswe said the budget for the nature reserve park and the gate house was P5.78 million and that both projects were estimated to take five months to complete. As for the ablution block at Khawa, Mr Lelatisitswe said the contract was awarded at about P2.5 million inclusive of associated infrastructure.

He said the completion of the project was expected in March 2024.

Member of Parliament for Kgalagadi South, Mr Sam Brooks had asked the minister if he was aware of the delay of the two projects in Kgalagadi South, and to state the budget of the projects as well as their completion dates.
