Africa-Press – Botswana. Three boys drown in Letsibogo Dam
Three boys aged between five and six drowned in the Letsibogo Dam spill way along Motloutse River near Mmadinare on Christmas eve.
Acting Officer Commanding District No.10 Superintendent Oduetse Mosweu said three boys had left home to swim in water pools in the spill way on the fateful day.
Superintendent Mosweu said one of the deceased’s body was found by a passer-by floating in the water and quickly alerted people and the police.
He said two more bodies were found during the recovery of the first body.
He pleaded with parents to always monitor movement of their children and ensure that they were safe particularly during the rainy season, noting that Mmadinare was surrounded by big streams leading to Motloutse River.
Meanwhile Superintendent Mosweu thanked the communities of Bobonong and Selebi Phikwe for behaving well on Christmas day, adding that the police had not recorded any serious incidents during the long weekend.
