Africa-Press – Botswana. Thuto SACCOS has announced an Ordinary Savings interest rate of 12 per cent for the financial year 2023/24 for its members.
Speaking during a press briefing on Wednesday, chairperson, Ms Karabo Segobye said loan applications open on Monday and members wishing to borrow money could do so while simultaneously increasing their savings.
With 19 years of experience in the industry, Ms Segobye expressed pride in their commitment to meeting the needs of members and their families through a variety of products that included Christmas savings, Valentine’s savings, and Ithute loan among others.
The chairperson also noted an impressive growth in membership which had over 5 000 members, a milestone was SACCOS was pleased with.
She encouraged existing members to recruit new ones, offering an incentive of P150 for each successful referral.
The initiative is meant to further expand the Thuto SACCOS community and enhance the benefits available to all members.
Ms Segobye encouraged members to utilise available digital system to view their savings progress and loan statements, adding that Thuto had focal persons in every department and districts across the country, to liase with potential members.
Thuto was founded in 2005, to promote a culture of saving and also offer loans and other investment facilities to public servants and parastatal employees.
SACCOS objective is to combat poverty by enabling the poor to learn how to utilise limited resources, Ms Segobye said.
