Africa-Press – Botswana. Tlokweng Border Gate experienced lower traffic of travellers this festive season compared to yesteryears, says Immigration Administrator, Ms Keamogetse Kerekang.

Ms Kerekang said December 22,recorded 4 496 travellers using the border gate, citing this to be highest recording ever since December 15.

She said since December 15-23, numbers rose to approximately 4 000 on a daily basis, mostly for arrivals transiting to Zimbabwe, most of whom she said were families.

In addition, she said most departures recorded comprised Batswana and South Africans residing in Botswana.

Respectively the statistics of travellers captured in December were as follows; 15th (4 012), 16th (3 778), 17th (4 173), 18th (3 372) 19th (3 268), 20th (3 468) while December 21 recorded 3 890.

Data capturing for December 23 is ongoing and numbers might just surpass previous recording as evidenced by high influx of travellers around noon.
