Africa-Press – Botswana. Government is committed to ensuring that the aspirations of the 2021 tourism policy are attained.
Presenting the 2024/2025 budget estimates yesterday, Minister of Finance, Ms Peggy Serame said tourism remained an integral part of Botswana’s economic growth and development.
She said the proposed developments to the sector would be driven by the implementation of the national tourism strategy and master plan which spanned the decade 2023-2033.
“To facilitate the implementation, budgetary provisions have been made to continue upgrading infrastructure in the Kasane-Kazungula Tourism Areas,” she said.
Furthermore, she said government would construct entrance gates at Khawa and Tsetseng as a way of improving infrastructure in protected areas for tourist attraction purposes.
Additionally, she said new tourism sites would be made available to support land ownership by citizens in the Kasane-Kazungula tourism area.
