Africa-Press – Botswana. The proposed construction of the Trans Kalahari railway line between Botswana and Namibia is still at a diagnostic scoping stage to determine its viability.
Answering a question during Ntlo ya Dikgosi session the Minister of Transport and Public Works Mr Eric Molale said the recent mineral developments in Botswana had considerably enhanced the viability of the rail project.
“A task team made up by experts from railway authorities of both countries (Botswana railways and TransNamib) has been set-up to develop a Roadmap on how the project will be executed,” said Mr Molale.
He continued to state that the task team was expected to have developed the roadmap by the end of April, which would inform the way forward regarding the execution of the project.
Mr Molale was responding to a question posed by Kgosi Moeti Monyamane of Kgalagadi North who wanted an update on the progress made regarding the construction of the Trans Kalahari railway line.
