Africa-Press – Botswana. The administration of the President of the United States of America (USA), Joe Biden, will launch a vaccination campaign against Covid-19 with a new booster vaccine as early as September, The New York Times revealed Friday.
According to the publication, pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Moderna have announced to the US regulator the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), that they expect to deliver millions of doses of reformulated vaccine by mid-September.
The new vaccine will aim to provide greater protection against infection with the BA.5 subline of the Ómicron variant and prevent a possible outbreak in winter.
In a statement, the US Health Services revealed that the new vaccines will begin shipping across the country once they have been authorized by the FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
“We must remain vigilant in our fight against Covid-19 and continue to expand Americans’ access to the best vaccines and treatments,” said Health Secretary Xavier Becerra.
“As we look to fall and winter, we are doing just that – ensuring that Americans have the tools they need to stay safe.” 19 is only available for people over 50 years old or immunocompromised users over 12 years old.
