Africa-Press – Botswana. The elderly people in Rakops have been implored to have a hand in the fight against illicit drugs that have bedeviled the country in recent years.

Speaking at an event to appreciate elderly residents of Rakops on Wednesday, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane said older people had the wisdom to tell right and wrong apart, hence their voice could be of significant help.

He said turning a blind eye on the unpleasant drug situation affecting the youth would at some point backfire.

In his message, the Vice President also condemned ritual killings happening in the country.

He said people should desist from the fallacy that human body parts brought wealth.

Elders being people fond of farming, Mr Tsogwane encouraged them to pray for more rain in this drought year.

Meanwhile, just as he did in Makalamabedi and Xere, The Vice President gifted elders above 70 years in Rakops goodies as well as free lunch.

A resident, Mr Babonye Mosesane commended the Vice President for the Christmas lunch initiative, also commending the Boteti West MP for the infrastructural developments he brought to the area.
