Africa-Press – Botswana. The quality of life index (the higher, the better) is a measure of overall quality of life using a formula that takes into account purchasing power, pollution, house price-to-income ratio, safety, and other indicators.

South Africa, Kenya and Morocco topped the list of African countries with the highest quality of life index, according to Numbeo, a crowdsourced global database of quality of life data.

The three countries are ranked between 39th and 69th in the world, with Luxembourg first, the Netherlands second, and Iceland rounding out the top three.

Press has looked at the five African countries with the highest quality of life.South Africa outperformed its peers in the purchasing power index, health care, house price-to-income ratio, and pollution index.

Kenya has the best climate index; Morocco tops the commute time index and the safety index, according to Numbeo.

In the world rankings, the 10 countries with the highest quality of life are in Europe, with the only exception being Oman, which is ranked sixth with an index of 187.

According to the global ranking, the UAE has the highest purchasing power, Pakistan has the best cost of living, and Venezuela has the best climate index.

In South America, the ranking was led by Uruguay, with an index of 139.1.
