Africa-Press – Botswana. Organiser of the lifestyle event Winter Soiree, Bambi Motsomatshukudu says she is optimistic about the event’s growth following the weekend edition’s turnout.
“I am impressed with how this event is going, and I have hope and confidence that the brand will go far,” she said confidently in an interview.
Winter Soiree, a fashion, food and beauty event which premiered last year was conceptualised after realising a gap in the entertainment demographics.
This year’s Winter Soiree showcased local fashion designers’ winter collection for the audience to appreciate and purchase their favourite numbers.
Grace Kewakae of Letoi Zayin a budding fashion designer residing and established in Tlokweng was among designers who showcased their creations.
Specialising in traditional leteise, quilts and leather Kewakae said their brand catered for women of all sizes.
“As a new brand we seek support from Batswana to grow our brand which we just started,” she said.
Inspired by Botswana culture and a Motswana woman in her design, Kewakae said she hoped to one-day export her products to showcase and celebrate her culture.
Kewakae has partnered with Trent Zayin, a Zimbabwean fashion designer also stirred by culture.
“Our products have a modernised craftsmanship by our ancestors and we play around with colour and text which is rooted in our culture,” said Zayin.
He said he believed that their collaboration would grow the brand ias it penetrated the fashion market.
The patrons were entertained by local performers in the likes of DJ LebGee, Frostbite, and Osaka Sun among others with rhythm and blues songs and afro house and afrotech beats.
Also to complete the mood of the event was carefully curated various pasta dishes for the patrons to indulge, as they got relaxed to revel in local fashion, beauty and music.
