Africa-Press – Botswana. President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi’s late mother, Ms Precious Masego Masisi has been described as a hard worker who believed in team work and uplifting others.

Fondly known as Mma Tshelang, Ms Masisi died in Gaborone on June 2 at the age of 95.

Speaking during a prayer session led by United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) women pastors on Thursday in Moshupa, Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) representative, Ms Masego Kewagamang said Ms Masisi played a pivotal role in the development of the country through different organisations such as YWCA.

The President’s mother, she said, was a member of YWCA and played a pivotal role in its formation, in the year 1962 in Kanye.

“The association is where it is today because of her and other women she worked closely with.

They managed to secure a plot in Gaborone and worked tirelessly to ensure that offices were built,” explained Ms Kewagamang.

She said the late Ms Masisi believed in volunteerism, which she and her peers practiced since independence and a lot of people followed in their footsteps.

Reverend Marang Gaobewe of UCCSA said Mma Tshelang was a strong believer who trusted God in everything she did.

She urged the attendees to copy from her and give their lives to God.
